I write to encourage you to join the new Pestnet app. You can use your desktop computer and join here: https://app.pestnet.org/. Sign in with your social media account, or register.

And you can also download the app on Android phones and tablets by going first to Google Store and writing in: 


You will see a link there that reads: 'download it on Google Play'. Tap on that, and go to the download site.

Anyone with the URL is a 'tester' and can download and use the app.. Try it out!

We want to get everyone onto the new system as quickly as possible and close the Yahoogroup. Everyday other groups report problems, which include difficulties in posting images.

Season’s Greetings!!

At long last I have had a look at the new platform using my private Facebook account (linked to my watermouse@westnet.com.au account). Apologies that it has taken so long.

I have a couple of questions:

Does the new system allow multiple points of access for users? Facebook is OK for home, but in many cases the requests are best dealt with from work devices where we are not allowed to use private social media accounts. Can I also register on the new Pestnet using my work email address?

Also, Robin Hide recently posted  x 3 images of the weevil he found in rice purchased from Daru, PNG. I know there were 3 images from the email which came via the old Yahoo account, HOWEVER, when I went to his posting on the new site I could only see a single image, although admittedly it appeared to be the best of the three. Is this intentional, or is it a ‘glitch’?

When I return to work I must check details of that weevil and also make sure that NAQIA are aware of it (I will forward to David Tenakanai, Pere Kokoa and Amanda Marui).

Dear Barbara You login using social media; you don't actually use their service at that time, so your system admin should be OK. It's saying "this person registered with Facebook, or the other social media, and as they were accepted by them, then Pestnet will accept them too". But yes, you can login with your work email, or any email account actually. It's just a way for the Pestnet system to recognise you, and for your account to be safe from anyone using and altering it. At present I have to post messages from Yahoogroups to the new Platform and from the new Platform to Yahoogroups - a chore - but there's not a lot I can do until more people move over. As for Robin's images, I just chose the one that seemed the best of the three - they were all a muchness. That's why there is only one on the new Platform. Best wishes to you too for 2019. It was correctly written into the email and sent to Yahoogroups, but then appears as an image ... image.png. It should be this: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.lucidcentral.mobile.pestnet IT MUST BE WRITTEN INTO GOOGLE PLAY STORE
