Insect species that prefer crops are prospering but majority are in decline

A surprising new study has found that while a third of pollinating insects in the UK are in decline some have grown in numbers,  the survivors are the creatures who feel most at home in our intensively farmed landscapes – like the ashy mining bee, which lives in vast fields of oilseed rape. Overall, diversity among insects is falling, with grim consequences for us and the rest of nature.
