Can someone help us to identify (see photographs) the problems met on fruits of mango in Niger ? Thanks
It looks similar to damage caused by thrips; the silvering of the fruits are typical of thrips, and the black dots are typical of their frass. In this country (Australia) it is Selenothrips rubrocinctus that does this kind of damage, but I am sure there are others elsewhere. I am attaching a fact sheet. The thrips are on the undersides of the young leaves and, if it is thrips you should see silvering of foliage, too, as well as the thrips.
