Abstract
In July 2017, during the cool season, bacterial wilt-like symptoms were observed in two potato (Solanum tuberosum) and two tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plots in the Western and Eastern coasts of New Caledonia, respectively. Based on molecular data (phylogenetic analysis), the causal pathogen was identified as Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum Phylotype I. This is thought to be the first report of R. pseudosolanacearum phylotype I causing bacterial wilt on potatoes and tomatoes in New Caledonia.
